Female chaplain: I can hear confessions, perform weddings and funerals

Suspilne published an interview with Oksana Myshchyshyn, a female chaplain who has been assisting soldiers on the front since 2022.
According to Myshchyshyn, she simply wanted to become a chaplain, “underwent training, and immediately started going to the front lines.” She notes that there is a prejudiced view in Ukrainian society regarding the role of women in this profession. However, she personally does not feel any special treatment from servicemen, as she believes they do not pay attention to her gender.
"Legislation does not prohibit it. The law states that a chaplain can be either a woman or a man," Myshchyshyn explains, adding that she feels a "calling from God."
She states that she prays with and hears the confessions of soldiers. Additionally, she is ready to perform Christian sacraments and rituals, including baptisms, weddings, and funerals. However, Myshchyshyn does not specify which denomination she belongs to.
