Serbian Patriarch meets with the hierarch of Cyprus and Athonite abbot

On April 28, 2025, in Belgrade, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije met with Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol (Cypriot Church) and the abbot of the Athos monastery of Vatopedi, Archimandrite Ephraim, reports the website of the Serbian Church.

It is reported that «during the cordial meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on important topics for the life and mission of the Orthodox Church in the contemporary world.».

«Special attention was paid to the nurturing of fraternal relations between the Serbian and Greek peoples, as well as the spiritual connection of our Local Churches», the text states. Metropolitan Athanasios and Archimandrite Ephraim also requested the blessing of the Serbian Patriarch for the transfer of a part of the holy relics of the Venerable Justin of Celje and Saint Nicholas of Žička.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Patriarch Porfirije met in Jerusalem with Patriarch Theophilos, and then in Moscow – with Patriarch Kirill.
