British Christians call for day of prayer ahead of euthanasia vote

On June 4, 2025, Christian organizations in the United Kingdom called for a national day of prayer on June 11, 2025. Human rights advocates oppose the legalization of assisted suicide. This was reported by Christian Post.
The vote on the bill to legalize euthanasia will take place on June 20 in parliament.
Christian organizations in the UK express serious concern that the new law could put vulnerable groups at risk – the elderly, disabled, terminally ill – who may feel pressured or guilty for continuing to live despite suffering or costs.
The bill, titled Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, stipulates that adults with a terminal diagnosis and an expected lifespan of less than 6 months can voluntarily request assistance to die. However, this will require the consent of two doctors and a High Court judge.
Christian leaders hope that prayer and public awareness will help influence MPs – either to persuade them to vote against or to abstain so that the law is not passed.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that euthanasia is being legalized in England.
