Following the Israeli Defense Forces’ strike on Iranian territory, OCU spokesperson Yevstratiy Zoria published a strongly worded Facebook post criticizing Iran.
According to him, Islam in Iran has been turned into “an ideological cover for hegemonic aggression.”
Zoria claimed that there exists an “Iranian World” which, “both in its ideological foundations and in the methods of its expansion,” resembles the so-called “Russian World.” In his view, neither Iran nor Russia “have anything to do with peace, because they feed and spread war.”
Zoria posted his statement immediately after the Israeli strike.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in 2023, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople called for ecumenical dialogue that “in fact goes beyond the Christian domain and enters the interfaith level.”
The Ecumenical Patriarch stated that any actions directed against Judaism and Islam also wound Christians.
