On June 18, 2025, Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) of Bancheny addressed the faithful with a word, in which he spoke about an assassination attempt planned against him.
According to the archbishop, a group of individuals from Ivano-Frankivsk arrived in Chernivtsi allegedly with the aim of physically eliminating the archbishop.
"A group came from Ivano-Frankivsk – specifically for me, to take me out of this life. I’m not afraid of anything. I have no bodyguards. They say I’m protected by armed security. I’ve never seen them. Our protection is from Heaven," emphasized the bishop.
He also stated that "we will unite our Ukraine – for the sake of God and for the future", because "strength is in truth, not in camouflage".
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny was assaulted.
