Synod of Romanian Church criticizes Ukrainian authorities

On July 1 and 2, 2025, a working session of the Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church was conducted under the chairmanship of Patriarch Daniel. During the session, the Synod members expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, reports the press service of the Romanian Patriarchate.
"The Synod took note, with sorrow, of the continued, unjustified, and abusive refusal by Ukrainian public authorities to legally recognize the Religious Association “Romanian Orthodox Church in Ukraine”, despite its compliance with all current Ukrainian legal requirements," the press release states.
It is noted that the Synod decided to continue supporting Romanian Orthodox communities in Ukraine.
As reported by the UOJ, the Synod of the Romanian Church approved the canonization of 16 ascetics.
