Pope to meet with ROC’s DECR Chairman

On July 26, 2025, a meeting will take place between Pope Leo and Metropolitan Antoniy (Sevriuk), Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), according to news agency ANSA.
Sources cited by ANSA report that the pope “intends to relaunch dialogue with the Moscow Patriarchate following tension linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
The report notes that Metropolitan Antoniy was present at the funeral of Pope Francis.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the pope also announced a trip to Turkey to mark the anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council.
