Romanian Church clergy join Krasnoilsk Convent feast

On August 19, 2025, clergy of the Romanian and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches celebrated the festive Divine Liturgy at the nunnery in honor of the Holy Great Martyr John of Suceava “Slatina” in the Bukovynian village of Krasnoilsk. This was reported by the faithful of the Chernivtsi-Bukovynian Eparchy of the UOC on their Facebook page.

The Divine Liturgy in the central church of the monastery, dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, was headed by Bishop Nikita of Ivano-Frankivsk and Kolomyia. Concelebrating with him were the builder of the holy convent, Mitred Archpriest Pavlin Pavlenko, clergy of the Chernivtsi Eparchy, and visiting priests from Romania.

To share in the joy with the abbess of the monastery, Mother Ioanna, abbesses and nuns from Bukovynian monasteries and from the Romanian Orthodox Church also arrived.

During the liturgy, the bishop and clergy offered fervent prayers for peace in Ukraine, for deliverance from the enemy, that the Lord may strengthen those in despair and who have lost their homes, and bless people of goodwill who help those in need.

After the dismissal, Bishop Nikita congratulated the abbess, clergy, and faithful on the feast.

As the UOJ previously reported, 20,000 faithful in Romania took part in the canonization of new saints of the Church.
