At White House, Pat. Bartholomew praises Trump for peace efforts in Ukraine

On September 15, 2025, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, received the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople at the White House, reports the press service of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The meeting in the Oval Office lasted more than half an hour and took place in a very cordial atmosphere.
During the conversation, the Patriarch expressed approval of Trump's peace initiatives in various conflicts, especially in Ukraine.
The parties also discussed the situation of Christians in the Middle East and the upcoming historic visit of Pope Leo to Turkey for a joint celebration with the Patriarch of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea.
Patriarch Bartholomew expressed condolences to the President of the United States in connection with the tragic death of his friend and associate Charlie Kirk, and also thanked him for the warm reception and memorable gift.
The meeting was attended by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Bishops Theodoritos of Laodicea and Maximos of Silivri, as well as representatives of the US administration led by Vice President J.D. Vance.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Patriarch Bartholomew arrived in the United States to receive the Templeton Prize for environmental protection.
