Metropolitan Theodosiy’s preventive measure extended for another two months

On October 30, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy extended the preventive measure for Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy in the form of a personal commitment for another two months.
Prosecutor Vadym Kolomiets stated in court that he petitioned for an extension of the preventive measure, since “the risks previously noted at earlier hearings continue to exist and have not changed”. According to him, these include the risk that the defendant may evade justice and influence witnesses.
The defense disagreed with the prosecution's arguments. Lawyer Volodymyr Yudin noted that the prosecutor mentions the same risks despite the repeated change of the measure of restraint. Lawyer Ihor Holubchyk pointed out that the witnesses have already been questioned, so there is no longer a risk of influencing them. Lawyer Tamara Hridenko stated that there is no evidence of the alleged risks.
The defendant and lawyer Hridenko joined the session remotely. After a deliberation, the court granted the prosecutor’s motion. The court also continued examining the video evidence.
As reported, on March 18, 2025, the court released Metropolitan Theodosiy under a personal commitment, replacing the night house arrest. Since May 15, the preventive measure has been extended.
The trial against Metropolitan Theodosiy has been ongoing for two years. During this time, he has been issued five suspicions, two of which have been combined into one case. The first suspicion was announced by the SBU on February 20, 2023.
