Conference on AI and Orthodox theology launched in Athens

On November 27, 2025, a two-day conference "Artificial Intelligence and Orthodox Theology" opened at the Cyprus House in Athens. This was reported by the Orthodoxia news agency.
The event began in the presence of Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus. The conference is organized by the National Bioethics Committee of Cyprus, the National Committee on Bioethics and Technoethics, the Special Secretariat for Long-Term Planning of the Presidency of the Government, the Church of Cyprus and the Journal "Theology".
The main part of the program is dedicated to the theological and ethical understanding of artificial intelligence. Participants discuss the impact of digital technologies on Christian anthropology, personal freedom, pastoral practice, and church life, as well as the theological boundaries of AI use in society.
The focus is on issues related to how the Church can respond to the challenges of rapid technological development while preserving Orthodox teaching and respect for human dignity.
