On December 16, 2025, Stefano Forte, president of the New York Young Republican Club, stated that the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Zelensky regime is unacceptable.

Forte recalled that when the Church of England, the Pope, and Orthodox Christians around the world have spoken out on persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, "only one issue could bring those three groups together."

“It is wrong to see the imprisonment of clergy, it is wrong to see our tax dollars going to the persecution of Christians in a land that is not ours,” he said.

Forte stressed the need for public unity on this issue. “We need to stand together as Americans to say the persecution of any Christians anywhere is wrong and we will refuse to put our tax dollars behind it,” he stated.

He concluded by calling on everyone present to unite against persecution not only as Orthodox Christians, but also as “good, God-fearing, decent people,” to say with one voice that the treatment of the UOC by the Zelensky regime will not be tolerated

Earlier, the UOJ reported that defenders of the UOC in the United States rejected accusations of holding a pro-Russian stance.
