Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Vinnytsia and Bar performed the monastic tonsure of cleric of the Bar Deanery, Deacon Serhiy Rachynsky, at the Assumption Cathedral of the city of Bar on March 4, 2026, reports the press service of the Vinnytsia Eparchy.
In monasticism, the cleric received the name Makary in honor of the holy martyr Makary, Metropolitan of Kyiv.
After the rite, Metropolitan Varsonofiy entrusted the newly tonsured hierodeacon Makary to the spiritual care of Archimandrite Seraphim (Povoroznyk), dean of the Bar district.
His Grace wished the newly tonsured monk to be a worthy servant of Christ's Church and carry out his obedience with zeal and humility.
As the UOJ reported, the Vinnytsia Eparchy of the UOC distributed hot meals to those in need. The eparchy actively develops social and missionary directions of ministry, and also supports the traditions of monastic life and spiritual care in the churches of the region.
