Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with soldiers and commanders of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) who profess Christianity.
The head of government stressed that, contrary to outside claims, Israel today is the main guarantor of Christian rights in the region. He noted that believers hold important positions in the armed forces and make a major contribution to the country’s security.
“Israel is the only country in the Middle East where the Christian community is flourishing, growing, and expanding,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister added that he was deeply impressed by the soldiers’ personal stories, their self-sacrifice, and their achievements in service. According to him, Christians in the IDF are defending not only their country but also their fellow believers throughout the region and beyond.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Israel created the post of special representative for dialogue with the Christian world.
