Head of UOC-KP adds African community to his structure

On May 26, 2026, UOC-KP leader Nikodym granted the petition of an African cleric and accepted a community from Uganda into his structure. Nikodym announced this on his Facebook page.
Archpriest Charalambos Ocena joined Nikodym’s organization together with the parish of St. Joseph. The decree states that the Ugandan cleric and his flock will now be directly subordinate to the head of the Kyiv Patriarchate.
As reported earlier by the UOJ, a parish in Denia, Spain, transferred from the Church of Constantinople to the UOC-KP. At that time, Nikodym signed a decree admitting the Christ the Savior community, which had previously been under the jurisdiction of the Phanar. The parish council decided at a general meeting to change jurisdictions, stating that it recognized Nikodym as “patriarch.”
