His Beatitude calls on the faithful to support Kherson Eparchy

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has addressed the hierarchy, clergy, monastics, and faithful with a call to support the Kherson Eparchy, which continues to endure the severe consequences of the war. The appeal was published by the UOC Information and Education Department.

In his message, Metropolitan Onuphry noted that Kherson and other communities throughout the region are regularly subjected to shelling, leaving many people without homes, livelihoods, and the stability of everyday life. Alongside the local population, the Church has also suffered greatly.

“The Holy Spirit Cathedral in the city of Kherson has suffered damage, as have churches throughout the city and region, parish buildings, and other church facilities. Among the clergy of the Kherson Eparchy there are both fatalities and injuries,” the appeal states.

Metropolitan Onuphry emphasized that the clergy of the eparchy continue their pastoral ministry despite constant danger, supporting people through prayer, words of comfort, and practical assistance.

In this connection, the Primate called on all faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church who are able to contribute to a charitable collection for the Kherson Eparchy and to intensify their prayers for peace in Ukraine and for all those suffering from the consequences of military action.
