In Hawaii, more than 100 people embrace Orthodoxy at ROCOR parish

The Orthodox parish of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God (ROCOR) in Kailua, Hawaii, has reported a record increase in parishioners. According to the church rector and guardian of the wonderworking myrrh-streaming Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, Priest Nektary Yangson, more than 100 people have been baptized into the community over the past 12 months, reports OrthoChristian.

In the first half of June 2026 alone, 15 new souls entered the bosom of the Church. Of these, four received holy Baptism, while another 11 people officially joined the ranks of the catechumens.

“Every soul coming to Christ is a miracle,” Father Nektary emphasized. “In a world seeking truth, meaning, and hope, this is a powerful reminder that the Holy Spirit continues to draw men, women, and children into the Ark of Salvation.” The cleric noted that the new faithful come from very different walks of life and have various backgrounds, but all of them have been united by the Orthodox faith.

At present, the parish is caring for more than 60 catechumens and truth-seeking Americans who are actively studying the basics of Orthodoxy. According to the clergyman, about 12 more people are preparing to receive Baptism in the coming weeks.

As the UOJ reported, ten Americans embraced Orthodoxy in the state of Oregon on the Feast of Trinity.
