The US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said in an interview with The Jerusalem Report that Christians must remember the close connection of their faith to Judaism.

“Israel is the foundation of Judaism, and Judaism is the foundation of Christianity,” Huckabee noted. According to him, American Christians’ support for Israel is connected not only to politics but also to their religious beliefs.

The diplomat also said that Western civilization was shaped on the basis of Judeo-Christian values. According to Huckabee, American values have a “God-centered, Judeo-Christian foundation,” according to which human rights come from God, not from the state.

Previously, Huckabee has repeatedly spoken about the connection of the Christian faith to the Jewish heritage.

“And I have to remind them, it's because you can be Jewish and not have anything to do with Christians. You cannot be a Christian and divorce yourself from the foundation of Judaism, which is at the core of what it means to be a Christian, "Huckabee stated. "It would be like saying: ‘I really love who I am, but I never want to acknowledge that I had a mother and a father’,” said the American ambassador in another interview.
