Romanian Primate thanks Phanar head for canonization of saints

The Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Daniel, sent a letter of gratitude to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the occasion of the canonization of four Romanian Athonite ascetics. This was reported by Basilica.ro.
Patriarch Daniel expressed deep gratitude for this decision. According to him, the life and prayerful example of the newly revealed intercessors will strengthen communion between the fraternal local Churches and serve to deepen pan-Orthodox unity.
The Primate of the Romanian Church expressed appreciation to the entire Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. "We express to Your Holiness and the members of the Holy Synod our profound gratitude for this blessed event, which holds such great spiritual and ecclesiastical significance." According to him, the decisions made serve as "an occasion for deep thanksgiving offered to God."
In conclusion, the Romanian First Hierarch wished Patriarch Bartholomew spiritual strength, good health, and God's assistance in his ministry. Patriarch Daniel also called upon the faithful to pray that the newly glorified Athonite patrons may unceasingly intercede before the Most Holy Trinity on behalf of the fullness of the Orthodox Church.
As the UOJ reported, Patriarch Bartholomew signed the patriarchal and synodal acts on the glorification of the saints on Saturday, August 29, at the Patriarchal Cathedral at the Phanar following the conclusion of the Holy Synod sessions. Four ascetics of Romanian origin were numbered among the saints: Hieromonk Niphon, Monk Nectarius Protopsaltis, Hieromonk Dionysius of Colciu, and Hieromonk Petronius. In total, the Patriarchate of Constantinople canonized six Athonite fathers.
