Izium Eparchy provides support to displaced people with disabilities

On September 2, 2026, representatives of the Izium Eparchy met with internally displaced people from frontline areas, the eparchy’s press service reports.

The meetings were held with the blessing of Archbishop John of Izium and Kupiansk at a dormitory of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute and at another dormitory housing people forced to leave their homes because of the fighting. Assistance was provided to residents of Kupiansk, Vovchansk, Velykyi Burluk, Dvorichna, and Prykolotne. The eparchy’s social department gave the displaced people nine wheelchairs, two walkers, and other essential household items.

In addition to material assistance, personal interaction and spiritual support were an important part of the meeting. Protodeacon Artemiy Bondarenko held a spiritual conversation with those present, listened to their concerns, and conveyed the blessing of the ruling hierarch to everyone.

As the UOJ reported, the Izium Eparchy previously provided assistance to displaced people from frontline areas. On August 12, residents of Kupiansk and Vovchansk, as well as the villages of Kovsharivka and Senkove, received aid.
