Epifaniy Dumenko stated that the OCU gave birth to both the Venerable Martyr Macarius, who lived in the 17th century, and many other saints. He made this statement at the St. Michael's Cathedral in Cherkasy, which was seized from the UOC.

"Now, during the war that the Russian empire of evil is waging against Ukraine, we turn again and again to Saint Macarius and to the host of other saints of God, whom our local Church of Ukraine-Rus' abundantly brought forth over the long span of its existence, asking them to pray unceasingly. To pray for the victory of truth, for the expulsion from our land of the godless, bloodthirsty aggressor-invaders who came from the Muscovite realm like thieves, 'to steal, to kill and to destroy'," said Serhiy Dumenko.
