Thousands of UOC faithful honor St. Job of Pochaiv

 On September 10, 2026, thousands of faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church gathered at the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra to commemorate the discovery of the relics of St. Job of Pochaiv, reports the UOC Information Center.

Metropolitan Sergiy of Ternopil and Kremenets presided over the Divine Liturgy at the monastery’s Transfiguration Cathedral. Numerous UOC hierarchs and clergy concelebrated with the ruling bishop.

After the dismissal, clergy and laity took part in the traditional procession around the Lavra grounds with the saint’s incorrupt relics. The participants carried the reliquary containing the relics of St. Job to the Cave Church.

In 2026, the Orthodox Church marks the 366th anniversary of the discovery of the relics of St. Job, Abbot of Pochaiv. On August 28, 1659, according to the Old Style calendar, Metropolitan Dionysius Balaban, together with Archimandrite Theophan of Ovruch, uncovered the relics of the holy abbot after St. Job appeared to the metropolitan three times in a dream. The metropolitan personally carried the saint’s honorable remains to the narthex of Holy Trinity Church.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the saints of the Far Caves were commemorated at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
