The Ecumenical Patriarch consecrated the Church of the Three Hierarchs and an Orthodox center in Budapest.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew performed the rite of consecration of the Church of the Three Hierarchs and the Phanarion Orthodox Center for Dialogue in Budapest. The services took place on September 5, 2026, in the presence of local officials and hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Fos Fanariou reports.

After the consecration, Patriarch Bartholomew celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated Church of the Three Hierarchs.

According to him, the newly opened Phanarion Center is intended to become “a genuine crossroads for encounters among Christians of all confessions and all those who sincerely seek God.”

“We fervently hope that Phanarion, together with our esteemed Society, will become a true workshop of ‘juridical ecumenism,’ bringing the fruits of canonical scholarship to the work of the Joint International Commission and thereby serving – modestly but sincerely – the sacred cause of restoring full communion between our Churches,” the head of the Phanar said, speaking about unity with the Roman Catholic Church.

As the UOJ previously reported, Patriarch Bartholomew said during a congress that he expects the restoration of full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
